How do I see a Doctor?

(During COVID-19 Pandemic please refer to our COVID-19 page under the services section for up date information on our current appointment system)

We have introduced a new way for patients to contact the practice using an online facility called E-Consult this service will enable any patient to make direct contact with the practice through a series of questions and prompts simply by clicking the blue banner on the home screen of the website. patient information, question or query will be sent direct to the practice via a secure email facility and the practice will respond by the end of the next working day.

You can maappointment_1ke an appointment online, by telephone or by calling into Reception at the surgery.

We book appointments by telephone or at the front desk from 08:00 onwards.

We do offer appointments to be booked in advance, however we will have appointments available for same day access that are bookable from 08:00 each morning.

Remember to make a separate appointment for each patient.

If you cannot keep an appointment for any reason please let us know so that we have the opportunity to offer it to someone else.

Appointments with the Doctor are normally 10 minutes long, If you need to see the doctor for a few problems please request a longer appointment when booking to avoid delaying other patients wishing to see the Doctor.

At the practice you may choose to see any doctor you wish and we will try where possible to accomodate your preference.  We do recommend seeing the same doctor through one episode of illness.  If a doctor wants to see you for a review appointment within a specific timescale these appointments can be booked in advance to ensure continuity.

You can request a face to face consultation or we do offer telephone consultations for patients who prefer this.  Not all problems can be dealt with over the telephone but the doctor would arrange to review you in surgery if this was the case.

In an Emergency

Medical emergencies will be seen the same day with the minimum of delay.

A duty doctor is on call every day to deal with same day requirement and emergencies only, this rota changes on a daily/weekly basis.

Patients who request and emergency appointment will be given a time to come to the surgery however this will be a "sit & wait" appointment as the doctor will be dealing with all emergencies.

Early Morning & Evening Surgery

We realise it is not always easy for patients to access the surgery during the day especially when commuting to work, therefore the practice provides early, late and Saturday surgeries on select dates for patients.

These surgeries are held out of hours and are pre-bookable appointments only.

Please contact reception if you need to book an appointment in the early, late or Saturday clinics.  We do not have appropriate levels of staff available to deal with emergencies during these times, therefore patients should refer to 'What to do when we are closed' for information on how to contact the out of hours provider.

Also please visit our Hadrian Extra Care Hub for more information on appointments available at Corbridge Surgery on evenings and Saturdays
